Deep-Penetrating E6010 Electrode for Pipe, Structural and Field Welding

Monolith 6010 is a high-cellulose E6010 stick electrode designed for applications requiring deep penetration, strong arc force and dependable performance in all welding positions.

It is especially well suited for pipe welding, root passes, structural fabrication, bridge work, shipbuilding and field repair, including applications where the base metal may be moderately rusty, painted, galvanized or difficult to clean thoroughly.

Monolith 6010 offers a stable arc, easy slag separation and good weld-bead formation, making it a practical choice for demanding field and maintenance work.

Deep Penetration. Strong Arc. Built for Field Welding.

Monolith 6010 is recommended for:

Pipeline welding
Pipe root passes
Structural steel
Bridge fabrication
Shipbuilding
General fabrication
Field welding
Maintenance and repair
Galvanized steel
Coated steel
Rusted steel
Painted steel
Difficult-to-clean steel
Cross-country pipelines
In-plant piping

The manufacturer specifically states that Monolith 6010 is suitable for root-run welding of pipelines up to API 5L X80 and for filler and cover layers up to API 5L X56.

Remove excessive oil, grease, moisture and loose contamination from the joint area where practical.

Monolith 6010 is designed to tolerate moderately dirty, rusty, painted and coated surfaces, but sound joint preparation should still be used whenever possible.

Maintain a controlled arc appropriate to the joint and welding position.

For pipe root welding, use the electrode angle and travel technique required to maintain penetration and keyhole control.

Remove slag between passes.

Do not re-dry or bake Monolith 6010 before welding. The manufacturer specifically lists baking before welding as not recommended.

Monolith 6010 is a high-cellulose E6010 electrode designed to provide deep arc penetration and reliable operation in demanding welding positions.

The electrode provides stable arc burning, easy slag removal and good weld-metal formation. It is also recommended for galvanized and coated steels and can be used where complete surface cleaning is difficult.

Why Monolith 6010?

Deep penetration — ideal for root passes and open-root pipe welding.

High-cellulose coating — delivers the forceful arc characteristics associated with E6010 electrodes.

Excellent field capability — designed for structural, pipeline and repair work.

Surface tolerance — effective on moderately rusty, painted, coated and difficult-to-clean steels.

All-position capability — suitable for demanding welding positions.

CWB certified — current certification lists Monolith 6010 to CSA W48-23 / AWS A5.1M, classification E4310, for sizes 2.0–5.0 mm.

Monolith 6010 or 7018?

Monolith 6010 = deep penetration, forceful arc, pipe roots, field welding and less-than-perfect steel surfaces.
7018 H4R = low-hydrogen structural electrode for high-quality fill and cap welds with smoother deposition and lower hydrogen.

In simple terms:
6010 = penetration / root pass / field work
7018 = low hydrogen / structural fill & cap
