Smooth-Running ER4043 Aluminum MIG Wire for Repair and Fabrication

Eagle ER4043 is a premium aluminum-silicon MIG welding wire containing approximately 5% silicon and designed for general aluminum fabrication, repair and maintenance.

ER4043 is one of the most widely used aluminum filler metals because of its smooth arc characteristics, excellent fluidity and reduced crack sensitivity. It is especially well suited for welding common 6XXX-series aluminum alloys including 6061 and 6063, as well as selected 3XXX- and 5XXX-series alloys and aluminum castings.

Available in .030", .035" and .045" diameters in both 1 lb and 16 lb spools.

Smooth Feeding. Excellent Flow. Reliable Aluminum Welds.

Eagle ER4043 is recommended for:

General aluminum fabrication
Aluminum repair
3003 aluminum
3004 aluminum
5052 aluminum
6061 aluminum
6063 aluminum
Aluminum castings
Automotive aluminum repair
Maintenance welding
Light fabrication
Production MIG welding
Especially well suited where good fluidity, smooth arc characteristics and reduced cracking tendency are important.

Clean the weld area thoroughly before welding. Remove all oil, grease, lubricants, coatings, dirt and oxides from the aluminum surface.

Use a dedicated stainless steel wire brush for oxide removal and keep the brush reserved for aluminum only to avoid contamination.

Use 100% Argon shielding gas for typical MIG applications.
Operate on DC Reverse [+] / DCEP polarity and adjust voltage, amperage and travel speed according to material thickness and joint design.

Maintain proper wire feeding equipment for aluminum, including a suitable liner and drive-roll setup, to help prevent feeding problems.

Eagle ER4043 is an aluminum-silicon filler wire containing approximately 5% silicon.

The silicon improves weld-puddle fluidity and produces a smooth-running arc, making ER4043 easy to use for a wide range of aluminum fabrication and repair applications.

Why Eagle ER4043?

Excellent fluidity — the silicon content helps the weld puddle flow smoothly.

Reduced crack sensitivity — a major reason ER4043 is widely used for aluminum repair and fabrication.

Smooth arc characteristics — provides consistent MIG performance.

Versatile aluminum compatibility — suitable for many common wrought and cast aluminum alloys.

Popular for 6061 and 6063 — two of the most common structural and fabrication aluminum grades.

ER4043 or ER5356?

Choose ER4043 when you want excellent flow, reduced cracking tendency and easy welding, especially on 6061/6063 and many cast aluminum applications.

Choose ER5356 when higher strength, better ductility or improved colour match after anodizing is more important.

In simple terms:
ER4043 = easier flowing, general-purpose aluminum wire
ER5356 = stronger aluminum-magnesium wire
