Low-Amperage Tubular Hardfacing for High Abrasion

Eagle 674 is an all-position thin-wall tubular hardfacing electrode designed for high-abrasion applications where lower amperage and reduced heat input are important. Its tubular construction allows it to run cooler than conventional solid hardfacing electrodes while producing a hard, wear-resistant deposit of approximately 58–62 HRC.

Ideal for components exposed to abrasive materials such as coal, ore, sand, cement and gravel, Eagle 674 provides strong resistance to abrasion and erosion, including elevated-temperature service up to approximately 1000°F.

Lower Amps. Less Heat. Serious Wear Protection.

Eagle 674 is recommended for:

Coal handling equipment
Ore handling equipment
Sand and aggregate applications
Cement equipment
Gravel-handling components
High-abrasion wear surfaces
Repair work where lower heat input is beneficial

Designed for components exposed to high abrasion and erosion, including service at elevated temperatures.

Clean the weld area thoroughly and remove fatigued or damaged metal before hardfacing. Use grinding where practical, or Eagle 188 airless gouging electrodes where additional material removal is required.

Use the lowest effective amperage while maintaining a medium arc length. Apply either stringer beads or weave beads depending on the application.

Eagle 674 is a thin-wall tubular hardfacing electrode designed to provide strong abrasion resistance at significantly lower amperage than many conventional hardfacing rods.

Its all-position capability and approximately 58–62 HRC deposit make it a versatile choice for repair and maintenance applications where heat input, portability and wear resistance all matter.

Why Eagle 674?

Low-amperage operation — tubular construction allows effective hardfacing with reduced amperage and heat input.

High abrasion resistance — approximately 58–62 HRC deposit provides strong wear protection.
All-position capability — useful for field repairs and components that cannot always be positioned flat.

Elevated-temperature service — resistant to abrasion and erosion at temperatures up to approximately 1000°F.

674 or 673?

Choose Eagle 674 when you want lower amperage, lower heat input and all-position flexibility while still getting strong abrasion resistance.

Choose Eagle 673 when the application demands maximum hardness and more extreme high-temperature abrasion resistance.

In simple terms:
674 = lower amps + less heat + 58–62 HRC
673 = maximum abrasion resistance + higher-temperature service
