Clean the weld area thoroughly and remove fatigued or damaged metal before hardfacing. A grinder may be used, or Eagle 188 airless gouging electrodes can be used where additional material removal is required.

Use the lowest effective amperage while maintaining approximately 1/2"–3/4" stick-out. Apply either stringer beads or weave beads depending on the application.

For best results, limit the deposit to a maximum of two layers.

Eagle 560FGS is an all-position chromium carbide hardfacing wire engineered for high resistance to abrasive wear.

With a deposited hardness of approximately 58–61 Rockwell C, it provides dependable protection for components exposed primarily to severe abrasion.

Choose 560FGS when you want a gas-shielded chromium carbide hardfacing wire for severe abrasion and have shielding gas available.

Choose 561GL when you want gasless severe-abrasion hardfacing.

Choose 563GL when the application combines high abrasion with more moderate impact, and you also want a self-shielded wire.
In simple terms:

561GL = gasless severe abrasion
563GL = gasless high abrasion + moderate impact
