Machinable Build-Up Wire for Metal-to-Metal Wear

Eagle 545FGS is an all-position, gas-shielded flux-cored build-up wire designed for rebuilding worn components and providing a durable underlay before final hardfacing.

Its martensitic deposit provides a stable hardness of approximately 40–45 HRC, making it an excellent choice for metal-to-metal wear applications where more hardness is required than a softer build-up alloy, while still retaining machinability.

Suitable for low, medium and high-carbon steels, Eagle 545FGS is a strong option for industrial maintenance, heavy equipment repair and rebuilding worn surfaces prior to hardfacing.

Suitable for build-up and underlay on low, medium and high-carbon steels.

DC Reverse [+] Polarity

Clean the weld area thoroughly and remove fatigued or damaged metal before rebuilding. Use grinding where practical, or Eagle 188 airless gouging electrodes where additional material removal is required.

Use the lowest effective amperage while maintaining approximately 1/2"–5/8" stick-out. Apply either stringer beads or weave beads depending on the application and required build-up.

Eagle 545FGS is an all-position build-up wire with a martensitic structure and stable hardness provided by carbide-forming alloy elements.

With a deposited hardness of approximately 40–45 HRC, it provides a stronger, harder build-up layer than softer machinable alloys while remaining suitable for applications involving metal-to-metal wear.
