Eagle 308L-16 is a premium low-carbon stainless steel welding electrode designed for joining 301, 302, 304 and 308 stainless steels.

Its low-carbon weld deposit helps reduce chromium carbide formation, helping preserve the corrosion resistance of the weld and surrounding stainless steel.

Eagle 308L-16 operates in all positions using AC or DC Reverse [+], making it a dependable choice for stainless fabrication, maintenance and repair.

Eagle 308L-16 is recommended for:

Designed for joining common 18% chromium / 8% nickel austenitic stainless steels where corrosion resistance and dependable weld strength are important.

Use AC or DC Reverse [+] Polarity.
Clean the weld area thoroughly with a grinder or stainless steel wire brush.

Remove cracks or damaged material where required. Eagle 188 airless gouging electrodes may be used for weld preparation.

Maintain a short arc length and use stringer beads for best results.

Eagle 308L-16 is a low-carbon stainless steel electrode designed for welding austenitic stainless steels such as 301, 302, 304 and 308.

The low-carbon deposit helps reduce the formation of chromium carbides during welding, helping maintain the corrosion-resistant properties of the base metal and weld.
The electrode provides strong mechanical properties and can be used in all welding positions.

Choose Eagle 309L-16 when joining stainless steel to carbon steel or other dissimilar steels, or when a higher-alloy stainless deposit is desirable.

In simple terms:
308L-16 = stainless to stainless
309L-16 = stainless to carbon steel / dissimilar metals
