Eagle 194 MIG

The Eagle 194 is preferred for welding thin sections of cast iron where high dilution occurs and minimum heat input is required. Eagle 194 is also excellent for building up on large castings. Can be used as an overlay on lower grade steels as corrosive protection against wet or dry material. When a lower tensile strength is permissible or joining thin cast iron to steel, this alloy has exceptional bonding capabilities.

Remove all defects and surface contaminants. A “U” type groove is to eliminate cracking in the root pass. Preheat castings to 500°F - 800°F, and maintain while welding. Use a 1/4” long arc with slow travel speed for buildups. Use two passes when possible with short beads, moving frequently to prevent welding heat build-up in one area. Peening is advised. Cool cast iron slowly for best results.
