Welding of castings that are chemically effected and have been saturated with grease, oil and other contaminants that make repairs with nickel electrodes impossible. This electrode is often used to repair castings that have been burned and on other problem like castings. The EAGLE 191 can be used as a buttering layer before using machinable cast iron electrodes.
Use AC or DC Reverse [+] Polarity. Prepare and clean the weld area. Groove out cracks using the EAGLE 188.
Use lowest effective amperage while maintaining a short to medium arc length. Short weld deposits are recommended (1” – 1½”) using the skip weld method to reduce heat input. Peening while hot will help to reduce stresses. Allow casting to cool slowly
The EAGLE 191 is an inexpensive all position electrode. Deposits have a very close colour match to cast iron.
